Our next concert "The Art of Persuasion: Music from the Age of Eloquence" will feature music for the baroque flute and theorbo with works by J.S Bach, Sylvius Leopold Weiss and C.P.E. Bach. The title is inspired by an eighteenth-century view of music as a form of eloquent speech. Musicians were expected to do far more than play the notes accurately; they were called upon to communicate with expression, conviction and emotional depth. The performer sought to engage the listener’s imagination, stir the emotions and move the heart.
